I am sure that almost everyone in the entire world is currently spending a lot of time thinking about Covid-19. Even a few short weeks ago it would have been unthinkable that an invisible virus could have such a great and terrible impact of peoples lives on a global scale.
We know that the wedding industry has been severely affected by this outbreak and the measures put in place to contain it. As a small husband and wife team we have very nervously been watching the news, concerned about what the recent events will mean, not just for our income, our fellow suppliers and friends in the industry but of course, also for our clients. We have been so excited in the run up to the start of the wedding season, I am sure many of you have been too. Many of you might be taking some hard decisions about your wedding day in recent days and we thought that it might be helpful to share our thoughts on the best course of action during this difficult time.
We are 100% with you at this time. Please call us to discuss your upcoming wedding and we can brainstorm though the options and work this out together!
We do not currently know how long these social distancing measures will last. If your wedding date is not in the immediate future then it is worth waiting for more information before you cancel or think about postponing your special day. Government advice is changing daily but there is still a possibility that things will be back to normal by the summer, or end of the summer. We all have everything crossed that this is the case!
Despite keeping calm we would suggest starting to look at the possibilities for what happens if you have to cancel or postpone your wedding date. Our recommendation would be to look at the possibility of moving the date. A lot of your suppliers will probably be very happy to move the date (a lot of wedding industry suppliers, like us, are individuals with no other income and will be very happy to rebook the date). Consider moving to week days or a Sunday if Saturday’s are booked up later in the year as there will likely be plenty of those dates still free.
If you have wedding insurance It is worth contacting them directly to see if they have any definitive information. They might be able to help or give you some good advice!
Suppliers will have their own terms for cancellations and postponements so it is worth speaking to all you suppliers to get the bigger picture around moving your wedding date or if you feel you absolutely have to cancel your wedding altogether. We can help and advise you on any implications, but please do get in touch as soon as possible to touch base.
The most important thing we feel, for everyone to do, during this difficult time is work together, support each other and try and find the positive outcomes from all of this. We would be happy to talk to you about your worries or your plans and see how we can help you. Please don’t hesitate to contact us!
With Love, Penny and Ed x
